Dr. Suhail Albhaisi, PhD, PE – Vice President, AECOM

Dr. Albhaisi is a Vice President at AECOM and the Director of Bridges for the States of New York and New Jersey. He is responsible for the technical and business development, management, oversight, and execution of bridge projects in the New York metro area. He played a major role in delivering many signature bridges projects across North America including the New Champlain Bridge in Montreal, the Alexander Hamilton Bridge in New York, the Ohio River Bridge – Downtown Crossing in Kentucky, the new Wittpenn Bridge in New Jersey, the I-4 Ultimate Improvement in Florida, and the California High Speed Rail Bridges. He has authored numerous technical publications on bridges and has taught Bridge Engineering for graduate students at Rutgers University. In addition, Dr. Albhaisi served as the chairman of the ACEC committee for NYCDOT, a voting member of the Post Tensioning Institute (PTI) Bridge Committee and several NCHRP, ACI, and AREMA committees/Panels on Bridges. Dr. Albhaisi is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, Virginia, Florida, and Kentucky. He is a member of the civil engineering honor society Chi Epsilon and the honor society Phi Kappa Phi.


Nidal Elderamneh, PE – Vice President

Mr. Elderamneh is a Sr. Electrical Engineer/Project Manager at HDR Engineering Inc. His responsibilities include project management, oversight of Junior to Mid level Electrical Engineers, as well as business development. He is a current member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Standards Organization and Heavy Movable Structures (HMS). He is an active Engineering advisory board member at Passaic County Community College (PCCC). He is also an Adjunct professor at PCCC teaching engineering courses.

Mr. Elderamneh consulting experience includes the design and rehabilitation of movable highway and railway bridges. He managed multi discipline Movable Bridge projects up to $25M in construction value. His responsibilities include managing the design team, providing technical expertise, and communicating directly with the client.


Saed Elahmad, PE - Treasurer

Mr. Elahmad holds an MSEE from the University of Bridgeport, an MBA from Southern Connecticut State University and a B.S in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He has over 15 years of experience designing building electrical systems. Saed is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia and New York. Saed is a certified Physical Security Professional. He has designed physical security systems for multi million dollar buildings, some examples of his work are the Bank of America Headquarter in New York City, Tower 7, and Crystal Bridges Museum of Art in Arkansas.


Mohammed Al Arag, MSCE, CFM -HydroTech Environmental Engineering and Geology, DPC.

Mohammed manages HydroTech’s civil – water resources group and its team of professionals and works closely with the firm’s head office in New York and international offices in the MENA Region. Mohammed is directly responsible for the group’s clients retention and revenue growth. He provides expertise in water resources, resilience, climate change and sustainability engineering sectors. Mohammed demonstrates key strengths in defining innovative engineering processes and formulating strategies, policies and procedures that organize and streamline workflow. He is well versed with local, federal, state, and international design guidelines. He has also worked on projects in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Qatar, UAE, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.


Sandra Hudeihed, EIT – Secretary

Sandra is an Assistant Engineer at NYSDOT, she obtained her Master degree in Transportation Engineering from CCNY and her Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Berzeit University.


Hassan Alkhafaji – Media and Membership Committee Chair

Mr. AlKhafaji is a Sr. Electrical Engineer at HDR Engineering Inc. and currently is a Consultant Electrical Engineer at MTA Bridges and Tunnels. He has fifteen (15) years of experience in the design, testing, construction and inspection of electrical controls, power generation and power distribution systems. He holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University. During his industry tenure, Mr. AlKhafaji has developed extensive experience in low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems, controls and SCADA systems, field testing and commissioning, construction inspections and construction support services for Movable bridges, power generation substations and distribution projects.


Fayez Fanik – New Jersey Director

Mr. Fanik is a Supervisor of Enforcement for the Bureau of Housing Inspection, Department of Community Affairs. Mr. Fanik is also an instructor at Mercer County Community college teaching building inspection courses for residential, commercial, High-rise, and High Hazard buildings. He is a licensed professional engineer in NY and NJ. Mr. Fanik serves on two committees with the International Code Council, namely, the Consensus Committee on Hurricane Resistant Construction and the Reinforced/Pre-stressed Concrete Exam Development Committee.


Jawad Assaf – New York Director

Jawad Assaf is a Principal Project Manager at Mott MacDonald’s (MM) US-East Water/Waste Water Division. Mr. Assaf is currently involved in project management and leading construction management/resident engineering and inspection (CM/REI) services for infrastructure projects in the New York-New Jersey Metropolitan area. MM is a $2 billion global management, engineering and development firm. MM works on projects in transportation, buildings, power, oil and gas, water and wastewater, environment, education, health, international development and digital infrastructure sectors. Prior to MM, Mr. Assaf was a Vice President and Executive Project Manager of major projects for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) Capital Program Division. He was responsible for overseeing the design and construction of a portion of the Division’s $500M annual Capital Program Portfolio. Mr. Assaf had worked for NYCEDC for more than 20 years, starting in 1997 as a senior Project Manager in Capital Program Department. Since then he had held number of positions from Senior Project Manager, Director, Assistant Vice President, and the Vice President. He had managed and supervised multi-million-dollar capital projects ranging from infrastructure, waterfront, and underground construction to the rehabilitation of commercial and industrial buildings.
Jawad Assaf has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Construction Management from New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Jersey (NJIT).
